Luis Basagoitia Attorney at Law, P.A.

Attorney with extensive trial experience serving the legal needs of the Central Florida community and the nation since 1990 - Abogado Hispano con extensa experiencia en juicios sirviendo las necesidades legales de la comunidad de la Florida Central y la nacion desde 1990

Mr. Basagoitia has 19 years of civil law experience. He worked the first 11 years at Greater Orlando Area Legal Services, Inc. now known as Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida. At that position, he was exposed to a wide variety of civil legal problems. The purpose of this program was to assist persons who could not afford an attorney in certain civil law matters. He developed experience especially in Family and Landlord and Tenant law.

However, he also gained experience in Consumer Law, Real Estate, and other areas such as: Mobile Home Eviction, Unemployment Compensation, Juvenile Dependency, Fraud, Contracts, etc. It was a community legal service office meaning that it served a relatively small community. This meant that there was no need for specialization for there was not the quantity of cases in one area to justify it.

He was one of two attorneys to serve the entire county (Osceola County) which at the time consisted of probably about 200,000 people. Therefore, he was trained to deal with a high volume practice and gained considerable experience in the process. For example, trials that would cost thousands of dollars as a private attorney he would do regularly because he was paid a salary and did not have to be paid hourly by the client.

He sees this experience as a residency where he learned to become a lawyer just like a doctor has to do a residency program before he/she practices medicine. His clients do not have to be afraid that he will be learning with their money on his fields of expertise. They will be hiring an experienced competent attorney whose goal is the best interest of the client. This may or may not involve going to court which is expensive and usually lengthy.

He sees going to court as a last resort because so many things can go wrong as a lot is expected to be done in a short amount of time. However, if he has to go to court he will do so to win. His goal is to serve his clients as economically and efficiently as possible so that the disagreeable experience of dealing with the legal system is minimized as much as possible. Also, he sees his role as a healer of conflict if at all possible.

He does not want to contribute to the problem but be a part of th
